Rick is a certified NRA firearms instructor in the following disciplines: Basic firearms safety, Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Personal Protection inside the home, personal protection outside the home, range safety officer. Rick has worked in the personal protection and CQC training since 1978, and he has trained under various academy’s that include the use and skill of advanced firearms, tactical shotgun, tactical SLR, as well as participating In competitive shooting skills. Rick has worked with various law enforcement agencies through the years, and his efforts include firearms training and CQC skills. Rick's philosophy is the greatest danger in training is that trainers who do things well tend to assume that others will benefit most from copying what they do, and therefore their instructing (teaching) ability makes this assumption in the way that they approach training. Rick's approach is to focus on enabling others, to adapt to the principles, to suite the trainee’s own circumstances. His firm belief is that we all have different skills, objectives, values and motivations, and that successful learning requires an understanding of basic principles that can be communicated through effective facilitation followed by a means to work out the most effective way to achieve what we want. To be a successful instructor (teacher) it takes more than simply a good knowledge of the subject, it requires someone who can do – instruct (teach).
Rick is dedicated to the effort of Cancer awareness and philanthropy, being a cancer survivor his efforts and time are spent in the assistance to those that are warriors in the effort to fight cancer. |
